What Are Insects?

Insects are tiny animals with three main body parts: the head, thorax, and abdomen. They usually have six legs, two antennae, and often wings. Insects belong to the largest group of animals on Earth, called arthropods. Common examples include ants, butterflies, bees, and beetles. These creatures play an important role in nature by pollinating plants, breaking down waste, and serving as food for other animals. Insects live in almost every environment, from forests to deserts. Their small size and ability to adapt make them incredibly diverse and essential to ecosystems.
